Applicants must be at least sixteen (16) years and older to attend day courses and eighteen (18) years and older to attend Evening courses.
Craft Courses: Applicants must have successfully completed the Secondary Competency Certificate Program Part 1; or have a sound foundation in general education up to the fifth form.
For all other courses applicants must possess at least four (4) subjects CSEC relevant to the program.
Technician Certificate Courses: Math, English A, Physics and any technical subject.
Applicants with work experience, and person who have gained at least a credit in a comparable Craft Course may be considered eligible for entry.
Diploma Courses: Math, English A, and any two business related subjects.
Examinations and Certifications
Guyana Technical Education Examination
This examination is the culmination of all training offered at the Institute. Exam fees are payable after the submission of the examination forms. Successful students are accredited with a Certificate or a Diploma.

Work Attachment
Work attachment is an integral part of the Institute’s curricula and as such, all second year full-time students will be required to complete a six week period of work attachment in Industry/Commerce as a requirement to be awarded a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ).
